Swirled Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1-teaspoon baking powder
1/2-teaspoon salt
1 cup butter, softened (no substitutions)
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Sprinkles
Blue food colouring (or any colour you prefer!)

Directions
1. Measure the flour, salt and baking powder into a bowl, mix and set aside.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and the sugar. Once smooth, add the eggs, vanilla and combine well.
3. Add the flour mixture to the butter/egg mixture in 2 batches Mix until the dough is smooth and flour is fully incorporated.
4. Cover in plastic wrap and refrigerate for an hour or put n the freezer for 30 min.
5. Divide dough into 2, dye one half dark blue using blue food dye gel, and return this dough to the freezer for 5 minutes.
6. Working on a lightly floured surface Roll out the white dough into a long rectangle, cutting the edges for a clean shape. Repeat this process with the dyed dough.
7. Layer the blue dough on top of the white dough. From the longest side roll the dough to form a log.
8. Lightly brush the outside of the log with water, roll in sprinkles. wrap in plastic wrap and place in freezer for 15 minutes
9. Using a sharp knife thinly (1/4 inch) slice the dough by ¼ inch.
10. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 F for approximately 8 minutes (depending on the size and thickness).
